I loved the characters in this film. First of all, i’m a huge fan of How I Met Your Mother, so seeing Josh Radnor in something else was really cool (and he wrote and directed the film as well). Although the film is supposed to be snapshots of love in the Big Apple, I saw it very much as character studies of trying to live life and figure out what to do – even in spite of the fact that you are in your 30’s. The message that the answers are not just written out for your at any point in your life, makes for a fun comedy about people. Annie was byfar my favorite character – I want to real-life friend just like her because she’s just a fun soul to watch. I love that “Buster” from Arrested Development was in the film as well – in a serious role (something I had not seen before). The dynamic between Sam and the young boy was really interesting because on one hand, he was just trying to help, but on the other hand you know he was keeping the boy as a placeholder for dealing with his problems. Kate Mara did a fantastic job playing Mississippi as well. The film was very somber and mellow feeling, which felt real to me. It didn’t go without it’s flaws, but for the most part was a decent film.
