Welcome to the Riley’s (2010)
If you want a really quick review of this films — it’s basically the same movie as The Blind Side, but instead of an intercity minority with a tough break it is a near-homeless, prostitute-stripper that a uppity white person tries to save. Not to sound negative, the Blind Side was a great film, and this film is by no means bad, the formula just felt so transparent at times. With that said, I think this is one of Kristen Stewart’s best films, so kuddos to her (although it’s probably only one of the films that isn’t terrible). I think I liked the idea and story of the film moreso than execution. It had great potential, but I think some of the dialogue and situations let itself down. I did like the ending as well, it wasn’t traditional for this type of film, but still had slices of hope embedded. Overall, I would see the film if you haven’t, but don’t go too far out of your way to see it either.
