Don’t judge this one by it’s cover (the cover isn’t the best), because Tucker and Dale is pretty awesome! If you have seen any “teens in the forest getting hacked up one by one” type of a film, then you are ready to enjoy T&D. Two hillbilly friends go on a vacation in the woods that a group of college kids just so happen to be vacationing in as well. Misunderstanding takes a turn for the worse when the college kids use everything they know from the hillbilly prototype and the two ignorant guys believe that the kids are part of a suicide cult. The miscommunication and rampart “accidents” in this film is what makes it hilarious. The writing is actually pretty good for a direct-to-video comedy-horror. Getting both sides of the perspective makes the film both fun and enhances the hilarity of each groups point of view. The hillbillies aid one of the students when she falls off a rock. They bring her back to their cabin (very creepy-like), and the college kids believe she has been kidnapped. Tucker and Dale both have heart, and make you think twice about judging hillbillies (although they are not the norm!). There isn’t much else to say, it’s a comedy-horror that actually does pretty well (i’d say on par with Doghouse and Lesbian Vampire Killers).
