Review

The Dark Knight Rises ends the trilogy of Batman films in a very appropriate way. The film feels aesthetically the same is it’s predecessors, but also feels darker and more fantastical in many ways. The backstory of Bane feels very fantasy in some ways. If you enjoyed The Dark Knight, you can expect the same style and acting from this film. I am not normally a fan of Anne Hathaway, but she was actually quite tolerable in this film. Although Bane was an interesting villain, I preferred the Joker in The Dark Knight. The film did infringe on “getting too long.” Unless a film is truly phenomenal, after the 2 hour mark, I start getting antsy. TDKR is a great film, but I found myself dozing in and out of consciousness (also because it was the midnight showing) throughout the film. I am not a huge fan of either action nor superhero films, but Batman (even the 90’s films) have always been a favorite of mine. As always, the cinematography was beautiful and the environments were visually rich. If you were a fan of the previous films, I would suggest seeing this film as well!
