Season of the Witch is what happens when you give something a chance that you really don’t want to, but talk yourself into because it seemingly has some good points. For instance, if you hate Nicholas Cage with a burning passion, but decide to see a film because you like the time period of the film ad you think that it might be nostalgic of some great films like Dragonslayer. Then you realize that anything with Nick Cage in it, is a bad idea, and you shouldn’t have given it a chance at all! This was SotW hands down. The film was boring as all hell. The first 20 minutes are montages of battles that the main characters were in, after about 2 of these, we get the point, but they decide to show various terrain and weather patterns in which these soldiers fought – this was about where I stopped caring. Secondly, the characters were just terrible, I didn’t care about them (except Kai), at all, so if they died, which they do! HA, I spoiled it for you, the two main characters die. Why did I do that? Well, because I wanted to give you a gift. The movie was way too religious too – I realize it was a crusades time period type of film, but with the DEMONS in the film, it made it pretty unrealistic, although I was hoping for more fantasy. Minus the first couple minutes of the film, there are no witches in … Season of the Witch — there is a demon…. and the demon speaks, and looks pretty terrible. Had there been a bit more fighting, I may have been distracted from the drab storyline and characters I really didn’t care about, but the decisions the people made in the film (like taking a 500 pound wagon across an old bridge that is falling apart) made me want to just fall asleep. The more I think about the film ,the more it turns from “didn’t care” into actual dislike for the the film. Overall, stay away from the film, there is nothing good about it (except maybe the one character, but it’s not worth wasting your time for). I would’ve been better off being burned at the stake instead of watching this fim. Also, I normal like the films that Relativity Media distributes and Lionsgate, and it’s like the teamed up to dishonor my taste for them (although Lionsgate has been on a decline since mid 2000’s).
