+ Pertinent government story that blends film and a real situation quite well, + Engaging characters and good actingBaddies:
- Film can be confusing if you are not familiar with the general backdrop of the Valerie Plame storyCIA operative Valerie Plame discovers her identity is allegedly leaked by the government as payback for an op-ed article her husband wrote criticizing the Bush administration.
I must admit I was fairly ignorant on the premise of the Valerie Plame story, and, in retrospect, feel terrible about it as it is one of the stories our entire nation should know about the events surrounding 9/11 and how important Valerie was to uncovering the fact that we did not have WMD’s. I won’t go into extreme detail about the actual premise, but this is a very important (and not dry) viewing of the situations (plus it has Noami Watts in it!). The film can be a bit confusing if you aren’t familiar with all of the surrounding events, but better vaguely confused than know nothing at all. The story itself is very compelling as well – the process of hierarchy in power in government and what they are willing to do is a powerful tale to tell (and this one just so happens to be true). Basically, all I have to say is to see it! I’m glad that I was pretty much forced to watch it!
