- Odd characters represented by odd acting, - Not as suspenseful as it toted itself to beDon McKay, a high school janitor who leaves his hometown after a tragedy, returns 25 years later to rekindle a romance with his old flame, who is dying, but this homecoming brings McKay more than he bargained for.
Don McKay had been on the list of films to see for quite some time, but always held off because I wasn’t so sure it was going to be quite a winning film – I was correct. The movie wasn’t terrible by any means, but it was pretty obvious early on that either A.) The acting in this film was atrocious (think daytime soap opera), or B.) The main female character was faking her disease. Sorry to ruin this, it was B, but still felt like A. There were moments of connection to the film – feeling bad for Don (although near the end you start realizing things that make you not feel so bad for him). The whole movie sets itself up for the twists (several bundled together) at the end, but at this point (yes at the end of the film), I still had no empathy for any of these characters (they were rather 2-dimensional), so I didn’t really care what happened to them. I’d suggest skipping this one unless you are really bored and have exhausted your “to watch” list.
If you are never going to see this film then I am going to insert a spoiler :: At the end of the film Elizabeth Shue kills two people (YES TWO) with a pot roast! This was byfar the best scene in the film – gotta love when large frozen meats can be utilized to take down those who oppose you!
