+ Hilarious, with replay value, + Amazing cast of characters and actresses, + A comedy that is also a great film and not just a series of laughsBaddies:
- It has a few trope-ic momentsPicked as her best friend’s maid of honor, lovelorn and broke Annie (Wiig) looks to bluff her way through the expensive and bizarre rituals with an oddball group of bridesmaids.
I could probably go on and on about how good Bridesmaids was, but the fact is that if you haven’t seen it yet you should probably go to the theater right now (assuming its still playing nearby). This is one of the best comedies i’ve seen in years. Some are refusing to see the film because it’s a “chick flick” which is completely wrong, there are parts in this film that are raunchier than any of the “buddy” comedies out there. I haven’t been impressed with the world of comedy for a number of years now (Dinner for Schmucks was the last good theatrical comedy i’ve seen and before that, I can’t even remember). Bridesmaids pushes the humor but fills in the in betweens with actual plot (one of my miffs with comedies). It does have romance involved in it (which is why it’s probably being advertised as a chick flick), but its done in such a way that it doesn’t appeal to guys as well. The movie is sweet though. If you want non-stop laughter (the part with Megan and the dolphin is unparalleled), then Bridesmaids is for you; really it’s for everyone. I have been saying this is the best comedy since Goldmember (my favorite comedy), so it is definitely worthwhile. Duly note, getting a 9/10 from he is truly difficult.
