I don’t want to spend too much time on this review because I already spent too much time watching the actual movie. The movie tries to be artsy (I think) and fails terribly. The premise seems simple and compelling enough. Two storylines that seem disconnected (but you know are somehow connected) that come together at the midpoint to tell the story of a woman and her ex-boyfriend serial killer. The aspect of the girlfriend attending AA meetings to get her life back on track shows promise, but the dialogue and general feel of the film fail at every single corner. There are almost no redeeming qualities to this film. The acting is terrible, the camera work feels very “film I made in high school media class”, and the characters are just plain unlikable. The protagonist of the film is awkward and makes you want to leave the room so you do not have to watch the car wreck that is her life and the actresses performance. Several times throughout the film, we get an awkward flashback of her and her boyfriend seemingly happy then distressed and eventually unfolding to where she discovers his killing room (then he gets shipped off). He escapes, and then we lose a bit more of our lives by submitting ourselves to terrible filmmaking. It is hard to pinpoint exactly what I hated about this film aside from the fact that it all really felt like it was scenes taked together with dollarstore tape.
